i’m planning to major marine bio too so i can apply what i’ve learned with paleontology

  2. noelle on June 24, 2022 at 6:32 pm

For the first one, I’m planning on attending vet school after I graduate and when looking at the courses I’ll have to take, I realized I have to take general chem 1&2, organic chem 1&2, and biochemistry. Not looking forward to it😅

    Can I trade you beanies?

I’m only in 8th grade and I have my mind set on being a marine biologist. I’ve already signed up for a marine science program in high school for early college and I want to go to uncw because I’ve heard they have a very good marine biology course. I also really wanna volunteer at my local aquarium(I gotta be a freshman to do that tho) so less than a year for that👍

SeaWorld is in San Diego ?

At the moment I’m going to UTS college to do a diploma of life sciences as a bridging sorta course because I didn’t take Chem in highschool, but next year I’ll be in a marine biology course and I’m mega excited already

  7. Rico Padron on June 24, 2022 at 6:38 pm

I’m taking marine Biology now, good luck to me haha

marine science is the study of marine environments, including the animals, plants, chemistry, etc. Marine Biology is the study of organisms in marine systems which includes, plants, fish, mammals, birds, and other biological systems like chemosynthesis.

Organic chemistry 1&2 and Calculus 2 are the killers, I’m a wildlife biologist with a 2nd major in marine biology. Great video though definitely helps everyone a lot

  18. irenic on June 24, 2022 at 6:46 pm

I wasn’t sure about becoming a marine biologist, but it seems like it’s good that I like math, chemistry and fish. Ideally I want to become an ichthyologist!

  19. Eg Guy on June 24, 2022 at 6:46 pm

I would like to specialize on cephalopods, fish, or marine mammals

  22. Kyra Yates on June 24, 2022 at 6:50 pm

I wanted to be a marine biologist since I was in 4th grade until I graduated. I instead went for an OSH degree but still have a passion for animals especially sea life.

  23. Bobby Mckeel on June 24, 2022 at 6:50 pm

I will add on the community college part, you may not be able to do marine bio BUT if you do a transfer program you will complete your general classes for 2 years so once you transfer to a university those classes will transfer and you will go in as a junior in university and can start taking classes more focused to your field. Cause why pay so much more for the same classes I can take for thousands less

  24. Helen on June 24, 2022 at 6:57 pm

Does anybody know anything about marine biotechnology?

  25. cyan on June 24, 2022 at 7:01 pm

“Can’t wait to tour them in 2020!”
Sorry about how that turned out! 😅

For real though thank you so much for all of the incredible info!

    *marine biology vs marine science:*
Marine biology is included in marine science. While marine biology really focuses on the living organisms within the ocean, marine science also includes a lot of chemistry, geography, physics, maths, mechanics etc. So if you want a broad education about the ocean, marine *science* it is. But if you want to focus on the animals and organisms especially, you should choose marine *biology.*
However with a major/phd in marine science you are still a marine biologist 🙂

At least this is how I understand it.

  27. Larissa Currie on June 24, 2022 at 7:02 pm

Did you need to minor or have something in English language? I know some schools ask for it but idk if its really mandatory

  28. gaby on June 24, 2022 at 7:02 pm

does anyone know which school she goes to???

  29. varkule on June 24, 2022 at 7:03 pm

I start my 4 year undergraduate marine biology course at uni next month. Kinda nervous but very excited!

  30. Daniel Hernandez on June 24, 2022 at 7:04 pm

How much time do you get in the water

  31. Kara Murphy on June 24, 2022 at 7:04 pm

Marine science includes oceanography and marine ecology as well as marine bio. So we do more like ecology geology stuff than marine bio majors but we have our fair share of bio too 🙂 at most school marine science majors have more chem too bleh

  32. Dan Gordon on June 24, 2022 at 7:07 pm

It’s a lot of fields and not every one uses a lot of math and cem

  33. Henry Brill on June 24, 2022 at 7:09 pm

There is a college that offers marine vertebrates biology. U Stony Brook

  34. Amber-Lee Rudge on June 24, 2022 at 7:09 pm

    I love this!

  35. Alex on June 24, 2022 at 7:10 pm

It seems like a tough major. I’d be willing to buckle down and try it, except I’m afraid I’d need to keep going and get a Masters for it to be worth it.

  36. Daniel Cote on June 24, 2022 at 7:10 pm

How early did you start I am 13 and want to be a marine biologist but I read it is a really long time in school and I just wanted to know when you started and how majoring marine bio is for you

  37. Catie Hoffman on June 24, 2022 at 7:12 pm

I’ve wanted to be a Cephalopod marine biologist for years, and I’m FINALLY starting the journey

  40. Pacific Boys Fish and Dive on June 24, 2022 at 7:21 pm

like you, I grew up in South Cal and went to seaworld so much that I got tired of going haha

  41. Kaity Hull on June 24, 2022 at 7:22 pm

Okay, I know I sound complicated but I have a question. I have a BIG passion for marine mammals and also just the ocean in general. I’m not that interested in the biology part of it though… are there any jobs that you know about where I could work with marine mammals but not specifically study biology? I’ve thought of becoming a marine mammal trainer or even an aquatic veterinarian but I really don’t know.

  42. AstroMartine on June 24, 2022 at 7:24 pm

I am in my 30s and want to be a marine biologist but feel am too old already sight.

  43. Eg Guy on June 24, 2022 at 7:25 pm

I think the difference between science and bio is that the ocean as whole like the objects (sand shipwrecks rocks) too but marine bio focuses only on the living organisms

  44. _.serina._ on June 24, 2022 at 7:25 pm

    How is math included??

  45. K. on June 24, 2022 at 7:26 pm

Love how you still don’t know the difference between marine bio and marine science lol (not making fun of you btw)

  46. Stephanie Gleason on June 24, 2022 at 7:26 pm

Oh, wow. She had no idea that, within a few months, schooling would be transformed.

  47. Brolo21 on June 24, 2022 at 7:27 pm

  48. Robby Arundel on June 24, 2022 at 7:28 pm

    Good mom!

  49. Harshit ojha on June 24, 2022 at 7:28 pm

You literally lost me when you said maths specially trigo 😂

  50. miKim Hwin on June 24, 2022 at 7:28 pm

Marine Biology is essentially a subdiscipline of Marine Science. … except in relation to how these things directly affect the biological organisms. Marine Science covers essentially everthing form marine biology, marine ecology, marine chemistry, marine geology, etc.
