Nice to see a competitive ladies’ final. Congrats to Barty.

That first set by Pliskova might be one of the worst in a final ever.
And it didn’t get much better. Many of her shots were tentative.
Against a player who defends as well as Barty that is fatal.

Congrats Barty. I actually like the tall, flat hitter Pliskova. I love flat hitters. Good grief those courts looks slow, though.

Amazing, how the media focus on Emma Raducanu ethnic background, but not on Ashleigh Barty ‘s indigenous ( Nagaragu tribe) , background. She’s a proud indigenous woman. Congrats Ash. 🙂🙂

Hope Karolina to win a slam at least before her career ends up.

I like that Pliskova gave it a good fight, but Barty was just too good

I wanted karolina to win but ashley is good so all the best to her. shows that she is a good player.

  14. Floyd Williams on July 18, 2021 at 11:43 pm

As we all knew Barty would back hand slice Pliskova to death. I cant stand her style of play. Almost every return from Barty was a safe back hand slice.

  15. Johnathon Alexander on July 18, 2021 at 11:44 pm

It’s refreshing seeing the world number one win a slam. 🤓

    Beautiful queen

  17. mediascribble on July 18, 2021 at 11:45 pm

the play seemed slow compared to what I’ve seen in the past. It was a good match, and the slice they both used on almost every point fantastic. Excellent win for Barty.

  18. Life Views on July 18, 2021 at 11:46 pm

The courts are so slow and Pliskova’s weaknesses get exposed on them — speed for once. For someone her height she can definitely do a lot of damage on medium fast courts or fast courts. Hopefully she can win a slam.

Barty used her excellent slice backhand to great effect here.

I just realized that this was the first year since 2014 where the Wimbledon final didn’t have a Williams sister in it 😭😭

None committal drop shot. She needs to retire after this year. Karolina will never win anything.

Hey Nike, take note. Two players with the same clothing sponsor in Fila, but two completely different outfits. So refreshing. That’s how you market your players. Not have them all wearing the same outfit so that they look like clones out there.

They should make the finals best of 5. Pliskova took too long to get settled in.

    Wow, good for her💪🏾congratulations ❤️

  37. Paul Kryder on July 19, 2021 at 12:12 am

Is she related to Billy Barty ??

  38. topspinaurelius on July 19, 2021 at 12:12 am

Not bad a aussie gal who retired and played cricket for a couple of years lol, Barty is so fun to watch, so much variety and strategy goes into her game, really would have take it in straight as she was clearly in control of the action for most of the match but had a blip in the second. she can easily take a bunch of more slam if her body holds up as the older generation is fading away at this point and new girls are either bit inconsistent (Kenin and Bianca), couple of years away (Guaff) or just mentally whacked (Osaka)…btw good for Sasha taking a completely broken down Pilskova from just ten month ago to the final of a slam, he has the magic touch on these mentally instable but super talented players, 2 slams and no1 ranking with Osaka in just a year when Osaka was still ranked outside of top 20 and now this with Pilskova, like to see him work with Anismova and see if he can get her over the hump after the tragic death of her dad

  39. Cristoval Jesús Amado on July 19, 2021 at 12:15 am

I wonder what Nick Kyrgios has to say about Ash Barty’s Wimbledon’s winning performance.

  40. David Carter on July 19, 2021 at 12:15 am

    Beautiful queen

  41. Bjim Malinao on July 19, 2021 at 12:19 am

Besides the fact that Barty sounds more like an Irish name, this was a well-played match. These players have game!

  42. scout on July 19, 2021 at 12:20 am

I don’t get why people are going on and on about slice shots. They are super common and not esp. difficult to hit. They can be low and that may give Pliskova some trouble, but tons of players use slice. Kristin Flipkins practically lives on slice shots. As does Bernard Tomic.

  43. Jed Honrado on July 19, 2021 at 12:20 am

Battle of nerves. Congrats to Ashleigh.

    Finally, the Aussie’s are back!

  46. hollister lowe on July 19, 2021 at 12:23 am

Someone has to teach Pliskova to bend more on her groundies and learn how to play the net! She had numerous opportunities to attack and she stayed back!

  47. NotSoHandyTim on July 19, 2021 at 12:23 am

Pretty good stuff. Maybe out of the goodness of their hearts ESPN will release some more good stuff.
