Please where are you located? And can you tell me if it’s true that sanctuary’s do not accept sick raccoons? I have rescued 2 but nobody would take them!! One had been hit by a car, I’m happy to say she is alive & well & just had her 3rd (if not 4th) litter! She still comes to visit me. However it was very frustrating that there was nobody but me to help her at the time & nobody to help her sick baby last year & when they found about the sick baby they came & took it & put it down 😞 I know it wasn’t rabies cuz he could eat & drink & do not believe it was anything contagious & the animals had previously shared food bowls & had close contact. I phoned, SO MANY NUMBERS TRYING TO GET HELP FOR THE POOR ANIMAL!!! But I was told that no facility would accept a sick raccoon…

I think this year must have been a late birth again cuz no sign of babies yet this year but past years I have seen them as early as April.

A second question is what would cause a raccoon to desert her babies at only 4 months? A few years ago I allowed 4 abandoned raccoon kids to stay in my shed & I still don’t know why the mum left them? One of them still comes back from time to time
