Never use the cage as punishment. Its their safe space to go to for calm down time, sleeping, eating. If your bird is misbehaving do not give into that behavior at all, blowing on them will only ruin your progress as well as never raise you voice, always talk to your bird with a soft calm tone. When they bite you or misbehave, simply give them a stern but still calm "No". These things take time and patience. If your bird keeps biting then reflect on your actions and behavior, what did you do that made your bird feel the need to bite? Your bird could just be tired and simply wants you to stop touching them. Training goes both ways, if your not getting anywhere then take a break and try again another day

Very good video mate, im getting my very first tiel tomorrow!

  6. Frankie E Kiwi on September 2, 2021 at 2:29 am

Hate the fact that most of this is negative reinforcement
You should never keep your bird in its cage when it bites, blow on it or move your hand up an down while the ‘tiel is perching
The right thing you should do is just leave it in a solitary place while it calms down but NOT THE CAGE
Like a play gym or what it has
For example I bought a table perch for my tiel and that would be fine… Right?

One of the most basic beginner training tactics is to teach Target or "Touch" training with a wooden chopstick and a clicker, and rewarding with a click and a treat when the bird gently taps the end of the stick. By teaching your bird this earlier on it can be easier to train because the bird will associate the stick and clicker with getting a treat and may be motivated to co-operate. Don’t ever try to force your bird to do something as this will break trust and learn to read body language. Your bird goes to bite your finger when it gets too close? Back away and try again later. This will show the bird you RESPECT it’s warnings and it will slowly learn on it’s own that the finger won’t hurt it. Work at the birds pace, no matter how slow it is, and your bond will be just that much stronger.

Best cockatiel taming video I’ve ever seen
    Your videos are awesome 👌😊

  19. Lun Lun on September 2, 2021 at 2:41 am

I don’t get it. Some people say you shouldn’t touch your bird when it’s in its cage because that’s their safe zone now I see this-

  20. olivia sticks on September 2, 2021 at 2:42 am

My bird immediatly stepped on my finger and is extremly friendly i wanted to see how to train like tricks and stuff

  21. aya :D on September 2, 2021 at 2:43 am

i tired to do it with my 9 month bird he just climbed up the cage

  22. Ραφαέλα Αγγελοπούλου on September 2, 2021 at 2:45 am

Nice video I never thought of blow on them when they do something bad. Good idea..

  23. DidacticSnow7 on September 2, 2021 at 2:46 am

You shouldn’t blow on a bird, you shouldn’t even punish them you should just use positive reinforcement

  24. ThunderShadowBreaker on September 2, 2021 at 2:46 am

He tries to bite me when I come near he is still in cage so I give him food am stick how do I tame him from that stage ?

  25. Rakin Chowdhury on September 2, 2021 at 2:47 am

But the thing is, I don’t force my cockatiel to sit on my shoulder. When ever I take her out first thing she does is go to my shoulder but other than that she’s a tamed chill bird

  26. Sheesh on September 2, 2021 at 2:49 am

    I’m getting mine soon 😜

  27. Khoshnaw on September 2, 2021 at 2:50 am

  29. RaHuL on September 2, 2021 at 2:52 am

I got my cockatiel just now…he’s 4months old,he’s too pretty..maybe he doesn’t even know how to bite he’s such a calm bird even if I try to touch him he just gets scared and backs off but he never tried to bite yet hope we get boneded soon.😊

  30. Patrick Ryan on September 2, 2021 at 2:53 am

I’ll be this bird’s bitch if it means it’ll sit on my shoulder like I’m a Pirate.

  31. Lizz on September 2, 2021 at 2:54 am

What if your bird doesn’t respond to ANY treats lol

  32. Eliana Micu on September 2, 2021 at 2:54 am

Pushing your finger into their chest is not good at all. The only reason they step up is cause you’re making them lose balance. Always let your bird decide to step up. Instead of pushing them, you can hold a treat in front of your finger to lure them onto it.

Also, punishing your bird is NOT acceptable. Even a small blow is not good. Negative reinforcement might make your bird listen, but your bird will not trust, or like you because of it. If you truly want to befriend your bird don’t punish it. And certainly don’t force it to step up or do tricks.

This video has some truth but a lot of misinformation. do not punish or force your bird please

  33. Yoosuf Leevan on September 2, 2021 at 2:54 am

  38. jim hood on September 2, 2021 at 3:02 am

My bird is a very stubborn one and a lil clumsy but he is also very kind and likes to talk a lot he likes to think he can scare me but nipping gently on my fingers but I just give him pets to know hey they don’t scare me if he was trying to hurt me I would know I still got marks from the first day I got him which is roughly around 2 weeks ago which was my fault but he’s such a gentle and talkative baby it hard to know how to get them used to being held or being around a larger figure he likes to fly round my room and some days he doesnt want to come out and just kinda sits in his food bowl which is on the open door it feels like I’ve had him all my life is weird to think is been so little I’ve had him

  45. Nadejda Koleva on September 2, 2021 at 3:12 am

Worst training tips for bird owners(future to be).. Please don’t make such examples of human dominance. That’s a bird, not a dog.
    P. S. Please, buy and set a bigger cage with natural toys (not plastic), remove the mirror, and start reading more for nimfas and their natural habitat… 🙏😶😢😤

  46. Ameen Siddiqui on September 2, 2021 at 3:13 am

I am thinking to buy a cockatiel too! 😀
But I don’t understand how you tamed 2 cockatiels
