Organic, homemade, healthy, preservative-free dog treats. Our cuddly, furry pets deserve only the best, and I think EVERYONE would agree.

In this DIY video, I dehydrate chicken and add a tiny pinch of flavor for our doggos. You can use beef as well, but whichever meat you choose, make sure there is no fat! Trim the fat off or have your butcher do this for you. Jerky is healthy for your puppies and is good for their teeth, regardless of their age.

Like most living things, dogs need salt to help balance fluids and keep nerves functioning properly. Dogs naturally need sodium as part of an electrolyte balance, so small amounts of salt aren’t bad for my dog. Consult a vet before changing your dog’s diet. Because I don’t feed my dog as much conventional dog food, which has added sodium, I add my own sodium. You don’t have to follow this advice, and again, consult a veterinarian before you change their diet.

When was this filmed…in 1978? I’m pretty sure this was taken from an episode of Three’s Company. You know, the one where Jack was cooking for Janet’s Dad’s dog.

For those of you who have trouble or feel uneasy about thinly slicing the chicken, you can purchase a steel mesh glove to avoid cutting yourself. Or, like she explains here, have your butcher slice them for you or purchase the meat already thinly sliced

I just spent $20 for dehydrated chicken chips for my dog. I think I’ll get a dehydrator and do this myself. I’m sure it will be much healthier for my baby. Thanks for the great video

  22. 1kaaa on December 22, 2021 at 10:37 pm

I always buy the dehydrated chicken treats from Trader Joes. Today, I’m trying to dehydrate them myself (without seasoning).

  23. MindMy Business on December 22, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Next time I get paid I might get this my dog goes insane over these treats he acts like chicken jerky is all he can eat. I’ve got other treats forget about it if it’s not chicken jerky he refuses to eat them. Thank u for the video.

  27. B&M TREASURES Boyd on December 22, 2021 at 10:42 pm

I did not see or hear what was the setting of the temperature of your dehydrator? I loved the video and going to try this recipe.

  28. Joanna Galiano on December 22, 2021 at 10:42 pm

This video has very bad advise. Please don’t put salt or sugar on your chicken. You can put chopped fresh or dried parsley instead. And don’t over crowd the dehydrator like that. You don’t want any overlaping or touching. Bake until the chicken is crunchy and snaps. You don’t want it bendy.
If you’d like for safety reasons, after dehydrating the chicken, flash bake at 200°F in the oven for 5 min or so. It will kill any salmonella that may be present.
The only impressing thing is how thin she was able to get those slices by hand. Good job.

  29. SCOTTA1 on December 22, 2021 at 10:43 pm

I would like to make some that is more like a tough rawhide or something so they can chew on it longer. Is there a recipe for this or is it a matter of making thicker slices ?

  30. Maweng Espiritu on December 22, 2021 at 10:44 pm

I will do that for my survival camping. Not for a dog but for me.

  31. Angela Holguin on December 22, 2021 at 10:45 pm

How long are these good for?

  32. Faith Ross on December 22, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Thank you this is the simplest recipe I have seen so far. Great job my Babies will love it.

  33. Mind Breaker on December 22, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Salt nor sugar are recommended for dogs. They can’t tolerate salt the way humans can because it can lead to the dog becoming dehydrated. There are many herbs that are beneficial to dogs but salt and sugar are not. Try using turmeric, rosemary, or ginger which are healthy for dogs.

If you used one of my knives like you used yours, you’d never leave a finger or palm print again! Insanely dangerous with surgically sharp knives!

  45. Billbo Hobo on December 22, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Dogs aren’t suppose to have sugar so can I skip the sugar step?

  46. yash on December 22, 2021 at 11:03 pm
