Here are the training tools that I use for Board and Train programs. I might use just one or a combination of the tools initially during the training, but the end result is a reliable off-leash trained dog. All dogs go home on an e-collar. Most of the dogs that I work with are struggling with negative behaviors (dog or human aggression, leash reactivity, separation anxiety, etc.) but even the ones that aren’t can benefit from an e-collar.
In my experience, an e-collar establishes communication in which the owner doesn’t have to become more aggressive or assertive in their tone and body language to get the dog to consistently and reliably listen to them. The e-collar helps bridge the gap between an owners commands and the dogs follow through. Simply put, it helps make the owner more relevant to their dog in ALL situations, including when the dog becomes aggressive, reactive, chases wildlife, etc.

You don’t have to hire a dog trainer, you can learn to train your dog with my free videos at Check out for all of my free how-to videos. Train your dog to have great leash manners, come when called, heel, sit-stay, down-stay, and to have great basic obedience skills so you can be on your way to having the dog of your dreams. Through my free videos, you can also learn to e-collar train your dog to get 100% off-leash compliance with every command you want your dog to know.

Are you able to get to the point where your dogs no longer need the e collar when off lead?

I have a 14 week old miniature golden doodle. She seems to be getting more inquisitive when outside & less responsive to her basic commands that she was learning quite well. I want to keep her safe . What is your advice on the best type of e collar? Thanks. Judy
