How to Bond With and Tame Your Parrot | Gaining the Trust of a New Bird

It’s time for an update on my adopted budgie Violet!!! (Formerly known as Pablita). Today I show you the steps I used to bond with and tame her. When working with a bird the most important thing is to never give up! Taming a parrot, especially a small one like a budgie, takes time and patience. It’s so important to keep going until you achieve results, because otherwise your bird is stuck in its cage, and that is not ok!!

My bird is used to me but isn’t friendly yet. It’s been 3 months!!! She just flies to the curtain or the fan or anywhere up when out of her cage. She steps up on a long stick and then with that stick she comes back to its cage.

I have two budgies. I have tried so many things to get them tame. So far they will eat small pieces of millet from my fingertips and I have them get used to a stick touch. But when it comes to coming out of the cage or onto a finger, all hell brakes loose. I don’t have a big cage and the door to the cage slide up so I have to prop it open. Any ideas on how to get them to trust me more? Do I need a bigger cage so I can work with them? I love my birds and want the happiest and playfulest life possible and I fear Im providing that

My birds are scared to death of me when I get my hand close to them they breathe heavily and fly away. How do I make them use to me I tried everything! I got my 2 budgies from a pet store because I felt bad because they had 30 budgies in the same cage! And they had infections and diseases and they are traumatized.

Question, if you die today will you go to heaven? Have you ever lied, stolen, hated, used God’s name as a curse word (O-M-G)? According to God’s law, you’re guilty. But wait, God loves you, he made a way out. God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him will not die but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Please think about your eternal life, believe and repent, even after rapture you can be saved. Love Y’all

How would you recommend I get my quaker to touch the stick as opposed to trying to grab it/push it away or biting it? I’ve had my parrot only 3 days and am trying to get her adjusted she bites at our hands and is pretty cage aggressive. Not even sure what the best method for getting her out of the cage is as she seems to be a bit calmer when she’s out of the cage. Great content btw.

I tried this with my new birds and emm…this did not go well

  43. Michelle Szabo on April 6, 2022 at 7:44 pm

“ especially budgies”, does that Include young cockatiels?

  44. Cara Garrett on April 6, 2022 at 7:45 pm

Thanks so much for this! Lots of great tips. Question, do they learn to only poop in their cage? (It’s possible you answered that question in your video, I haven’t quite finished it yet, so I will delete my comment if you did answer it).

sh*t. I got two little budgies yesterday and opened their cage. The were sitting on the edge of the open door so I put my finger near one and it hopped on..but it got spooked and flew off my hand onto the curtain railing way up by the ceiling..I got them back in the cage after many hours of getting them used to my hand but I shouldn’t have brought them out of the cage so soon..

  48. Axel Werner on April 6, 2022 at 7:55 pm
