How To Handle And Tame Your Pet Turtle

In this video, I’ll be showing you guys how to handle and “tame” your pet turtle! I will be sharing some tips and tricks that worked best for me in getting Tim, my red-eared slider, to come out of his shell whenever I am around. I hope this video helped, thank you for watching.

*PLEASE READ*. Turtles are not social creatures so they are MORE than happy being left alone. By all means, I am not condoning you to always handle your pet turtle. This video is solely for the purpose of helping your turtle break out of their shell and start trusting you as their caretaker.

Thanks for watching! Please read this important message before heading off 🙂

Turtles are not social creatures! They do perfectly fine with you leaving them alone. Therefore, I don’t recommend handling in unnecessary situations or taking your turtle out of their enclosure just for the sake of it. It’s going to definitely stress them out. This video is simply designed to help your turtle become MORE COMFORTABLE with your presence and recognize that you are their caretaker and food provider (this will make them less shy and start swimming up to you).

See ya in my next video!

Great video! I got my turtle 2 days ago and managed to hand feed him twice today! However I’m not sure when I should start handling because he’s still rather scared of me. So how Long do you think I should wait before I start handling him?

I tried hand feeding my turtle. She got too comfortable and but me, I was okay the first time but the second time she but hard and held it for a long time so I freaked out and drew out my hand quickly. She fell and I scared her and I feel bad now 🙁

    I have a question…
I have 2 baby turtles, should I fill their tank with lots of water or should I just make a mini pool for them

Recently got a pink belly side necked turtle a baby and he used to run away everytime i pop up at his tank but im starting to notice now sometimes he doesnt mind if i present my self ill wave a bit and move in closer and he’ll sometimes run but i also noticed putting my finger in the tank and acting as if im "swimming" he’ll get very close to my finger so i think that works good.

Love the videos bud! We have three hatchlings, I handle them once a day for feeding. Already they are eating well and learning that when my hand comes in the tank it’s time to eat! Keep the videos coming! Also wanted to add, I introduced veggies just to try and get them use to it so they don’t become picky. The cooter quickly warmed up to the veggies. The other 2 not yet but will continue to try 🤞🏻
