How to Tame an "Aggressive" Snake

Snakes will bite for 2 reasons: They think you’re a predator, or they think you’re prey. In this video I explain some techniques to tame a not-so-friendly snake, including the introduction to the “Confident Grab” technique that works every time!

🤠🤠🤠U R braver than me! I personally have a hatchling blue-eyed Lucy. I named him Atticus, after my great nephew in the Bahamas. I traded in five of my corn snakes for this one eight month old blue eyed Lucystic ball python! I got Atticus on the very last day of 2020 and Atticus went four weeks without eating anything because I am feeding Atticus from Virginia, how much colder place than Austin Texascoming where I’m from.🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠

Title: How to tame an aggressive snake
Emily: There’s no such thing as an aggressive snake.
    Me: Well, the videos over.

  8. Chris Sede on April 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm

Didn’t work for me. I tried this technique with my supervisor and he still bit me. Guess he is the wrong type of snake.

I just held my snake today kind of and I’m struggling. I had a glove which may not be the best idea but it was my first time. Whenever she tightened her grip on my finger I’d get scared and put her down fast. Or whenever she started to go up towards my fingers while I was trying to hold her I’d put her back down. I’ve left her for about a month without holding her cause some stuff has happened and I wasn’t able to hold her so I’m trying to introduce myself to her so she doesn’t get used to not being handled. I’m going to try again tomorrow, this video helped a lot and hopefully it’ll help me make my snake trust me!

  15. Chris Nicholes on April 13, 2021 at 2:07 pm

12:06 , I don’t know why that is so funny to me, just a tiny snake jumping out and hissing before hiding again, it was so fast too like 3-5 frames of the video

    My snake: blelelele *derp*

  22. VestedUTuber on April 13, 2021 at 2:13 pm

"Another reason snakes might bite is if they think you’e food"
You mean like a False Water Cobra would? Those guys are outright gluttons.

What’s your thoughts on feeding a snake with tongues so as to try and keep them from associating your hands with food?

  23. Destiny Currie on April 13, 2021 at 2:14 pm

I just adopted a ball who seems defensive, should I let him/her stay in its enclosure for the first week to get used to it and then try holding or should I start handling sooner than later?

  24. Vamp on April 13, 2021 at 2:17 pm

I like that Emily is just calmly being eaten by a snake.

  25. Alex Haro on April 13, 2021 at 2:18 pm

For snakefantics out there, how do you store frozen mice? In a freezer or can you just leave it out on a counter? I am going to get a ball python and I want to get everything ready!

  40. Tizona Amanthia on April 13, 2021 at 2:34 pm

that bull snake glomping you. I applaud your confidence, and pain tolerance. I’ve had a large bull nab me. though, in his defense, I Think it may have been a similar thing of not being handled enough but me also invading his enclosure…normally a friendly enough "grouch" but I was far less experienced and so…while not flipping out…I also wasn’t nearly so calm about being bitten right proper like that.

  41. Fist of Dante Media on April 13, 2021 at 2:36 pm

    Snake: *bites*

Human: *doesn’t die or even show fear*

Snake: “Alright, we’ll call it a draw.”

Hey Emily I have a question. If you have a nocturnal snake do you have to take it out in the night?

  46. Kim Panther on April 13, 2021 at 2:41 pm

I’m convinced if I had 1/4 of the confidence of Emily I could do anything
