I drove through the worst parts of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This is it.

Wow there are some really terrible areas in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

For this video, I took Route 17 south into the city of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The goal would be to check out the worst parts of this beach community, areas that I had heard a lot about in the past. It was partly cloudy, but warm on a Monday, January 4, 2021 at about 10 am.

We’re going to check out two areas in Myrtle Beach that are the most run down of all. one area is closer to downtown and the second area – probably the worst area – is down by the airport.

We’re going to an area close to downtown. This little neighborhood is pretty rundown, and is only a mile from the main drag with all the rides and museums and restaurants and hotels..

Now, recently, Myrtle Beach was named as the third most dangerous place you can live in the entire NATION. Much of that is because of the large number of people who are into drugs, and a lot of the crime is also associated with the tourist season. Lots of people who flock here from out of town cause problems, shoot people and get into trouble. And, locals prey on the tourists who come into town as well. Property crimes are a huge headache every summer.

Others have blamed the crime on the rise in the cost of living here, as wages haven’t kept up with the cost to rent a home, for example.

Myrtle Beach used to be an awesome place to bring the family down, but Myrtle Beach now has an image problem, as word is out about the rise in crime here, so less families come here for their vacations.

However, the main drag is still very pretty and there are a lot of fun things to do. I highlight the Myrtle Beach strip in another video.

Finally, we’ll go to the worst neighborhood I was able to find. It’s way down near the airport on the south end of town, about two miles from the main drag.

The first neighborhood is called the Hill but there’s no hill there just a hill of crack.

In all honesty these are some of the safest places. The rest of the city is filled with thieves, drug pushers, prostitutes, greed, drunkards, selfishness and poor judgement.
Its a breeding ground for people to be delivered

My uncle (Tristan Vereen) was shot up in Myrtle Beach.

Just wait until you visit Sandridge Loop.
    That’s Myrtle Beach’s danger spot.
People stealing vehicles, drowning, guns, drunk people, etc.

If that’s run down I’d hate to see what you would think of some of the places in NC.

This video makes me sad. Some people cannot afford what others have. They work hard and earn an honest living. Please think about all the people out there you may be offending making this video.. I’m sure you didn’t think of it like that before. I also live in a mobile home, yet I am a hard worker and consider myself a decent person..

Make sure you keep your doors locked driving around in these places.

I see modest homes. I see a big blue roll off dumpster-that tells me folks are trying. Griffin, GA has a crime rate 137% higher than the national average (my town-ive been here since 1985). Im not moving.

I used to work construction in south-east Washington DC. In comparison, this video looks like the promised land.

That neighborhood doesn’t look bad compare to other ones in the US I’ve saw which are much, much worst!

This simply looks like a lower income area. Most of the places were well taken care of within the individuals’ financial capabilities. I wouldn’t label it as the "worst" though. Just because people have less, doesn’t mean they lack pride in what they do have. Worst, in my opinion, is crime, gangs on the streets, druggies shooting up on the sidewalk. Literal fear gripping you as menacing glares pin you. Guns visible in waistbands. Hookers walking up to your vehicle, etc. This is none of that. The cars all look nice as well, no busted windows or missing hubcaps…

This is a much more decent and safer neighborhood compared to south side and west side of Chicago. The people in the south, it doesn’t matter what color or race are more down to earth, humble and hardworkers compared to the people in the Midwest. That’s just my opinion and I’m from Chicago, Peace. 🇺🇸 ✌🏽

Yeah myrtle beach is pretty trashy. Its a cheap family vacation. Boardwalk area is full of thugs at night, ridden with cockroaches, smells of trash and god knows what else. Local restaurants are a rip for mediocre food at best. Its revenue is strictly based on tourism.

  21. Uncle Silver Gaming on September 22, 2021 at 6:42 am

I grew up in North Philly, PA. We had crime, drugs, etc. there too. At least here you also get open spaces and the beach, lol.

  23. Nina Mc on September 22, 2021 at 6:43 am

  24. Pat Mckinnon on September 22, 2021 at 6:43 am

Also the second neighborhood is Ramsey acres, and it’s not even close to being the worst neighborhood around here, you should have went to Racepath, but I don’t blame you for not going to Racepath

  25. Mr. Everything on September 22, 2021 at 6:43 am

Doesn’t look too bad. I’ve seen much worse. Hardly any trash as people are taking pride in there neighborhood.

OK so me and the wife live in Georgetown, Delaware and we frequent MB often for vacations. I retire in September 2024 and we are planning on making the general area our final residence (prob more around the Conway area but still…) Ive seen alot of these "worst areas in MB" videos and each one has their own touch. However, this is no different than any other town across our country. There are "bad areas" no matter where you live. We live 15 minutes from Rehoboth Beach, DE and it is a popular "homosexual lifestyle" area. Sometimes, some of them are very blatant about it also. Not the best "family place" if you will. They also have an area called West Rehoboth…"bad area" (drugs, crime, etc). We also live about 30 min from Ocean City, MD which is a great place in general, but if you want to talk crime….drugs, alcohol and prostitution run rampant down there. HOWEVER, every tourist area has that. Its a shame to see such a beautiful area like MB get a bad rep just because of certain areas. Any time we have been down there we have had ZERO problems and absolutely love the general population and the area itself. Like I said, every town has their "bad areas".

  28. Rob Adcox on September 22, 2021 at 6:46 am

Clean up a few messes, plant some grass seed, and that area would improve 850%.

  29. Brian Haynes on September 22, 2021 at 6:46 am

Myrtle has turned into a ghetto now. I used to go there once or twice every year. But unless they get the crime under control I will never go back.

Honestly I’ve had the pleasure of living on both sides of the track… But the funny thing is what I’ve LEARNED is in a time of need… the elite society will be the 1ST to post, be opinionated with your nose in the air…As opposed to the same neighborhood your riding in…guess what friend THESE ARE THE PEOPLE that would help you NO STRING attached. So I’ll say don’t SLEEP on what it looks like because you miss the essence of the TRUE BEAUTY that’s sit within that community…. Now measure yourself by the same token. I guarantee you if they would’ve remotely decided to ride on your block because…hmmmm they dare to dream of a better life, I ask would they make it out the neighborhood without you calling the police? The answer would be a resounding NO because in your eyes you’ll say they look SUSPECT….😏hmmmm. WAKE UP & DO BETTER cause at the end of the day NOT ONCE did you lend a helping hand or start a motion to HELP THE COMMUNITY which are HARD WORKING under paid citizens whose doing there best so looking down is NEVER an option when your NOT walking there shoes to KNOW THERE STORY!!!!!

  36. oh no on September 22, 2021 at 6:59 am

mannnnnnnn im from hwy 15 on that last street he showed and its rlly not bad at all, he got it all wrong actually, he highlighted the 3rd and 5th most dangerous parts and the only reason they are dangerous is bc of the ppl who go into those neighborhoods not the ones who live in them… 😐 NOWWWWW LEMME STATE A FACT if he would have went into race path or "the hill" his car woulda been lit up but not bc of who he is but bc of what he is doing (LITERALLY VIDEO TAPING PPL AND THIER HOUSES) which is frowned upon, so word of advice, get your facts right before you state ANYTHING

  37. Hulk Amania on September 22, 2021 at 6:59 am

    not even that bad

  38. EcoBlu Mustang & More on September 22, 2021 at 7:00 am

Just got back from Myrtle Beach. There are "bad" neighborhoods everywhere. I personally wouldn’t want to live in or near a tourist town.

  39. Michael Hawk on September 22, 2021 at 7:00 am

Moved to the area four years ago. Best thing I ever done. Every town in America has some issues. Those streets you filmed? A lot of good people live on them. Some not so good. I do know that the population in the area is going to double in less than ten years. Those coming in? Scooping up new homes in new communities and bringing their money with them. Myrtle Beach is a gem, and it’s only going to get better. No it’s not a beach town anymore. The memories? Well not like some remember, but it’s awesome. You just have to share with twelve million visitors now. So expect fine dining to come, expect fine entertainment, expect high sun and waves on the sand. And expect to be saying something like "if only I would have seen what it would come to be back in 2020".

  40. Vicki Lester on September 22, 2021 at 7:00 am

Shoot, you find worse in Washington, DC and surrounding areas. People flock there daily. Hell, the president lives there. Give me a break.

  41. Rebecca Ragan on September 22, 2021 at 7:01 am

    I have seen worse

  42. Bret jj Johnson on September 22, 2021 at 7:01 am

The place gets hit with hurricanes every year so yes alot of towns look run downed that doesn’t mean there is nothing but drugs killings and violence there.

  43. Melvin Barnes on September 22, 2021 at 7:01 am

Looks to like you drove through these neighborhoods on the day for trash pick up and it hadn’t been done, some would look better if the cans were in their place away from the curbs. They may not be high rise housing but the houses looked fairly well maintained, no cars up on blocks, and the weather made them look worse.

  44. Hal Whitlock on September 22, 2021 at 7:01 am

Not really sure what your point is. I didn’t see anything threatening in the places you drove through. I saw people’s homes that you apparently exploited in order to prove whatever point you were trying to prove. Please don’t be condescending to hard working South Carolinians.

  45. Tim J on September 22, 2021 at 7:04 am

How does one live at m.b. and not have 3 jobs ? 😱 I was their for three months and couldn’t get a job , they only hire locals. These properties are worth a lot and look like garbage.

  46. Textured Angel on September 22, 2021 at 7:05 am

Worst neighborhoods are Dunbar at and Racepath.

  47. Doesnt Matter on September 22, 2021 at 7:07 am

Sounds like Daytona area back in the day

  48. James Velvet on September 22, 2021 at 7:07 am

DATA ALERT: Due to the low number of residents the data tends to be skewed. A lot. To wit: The n is typically the town/city population. Myrtle Beach has a (relatively) low population per the U.S. Census (a factor, literally, in this calculus). The enormous number of tourists (who are never Myrtle Beach residents) each year commit crimes. When compared to the "population" the resultant quotient is skewed. I think.
