Introduction to Dog Nutrition | Body Condition and Calculating Energy Requirements

Assessing your dog’s weight and calculating how much food to feed can be very challenging! Today, I am going to walk you through how to assess your dog’s body condition and how to calculate caloric needs. We will also talk about some healthy snacks you can feed.

On a related note, many of our pets are overweight, or even obese. If you would like more information specifically pertaining to obesity, check out my other video at https://youtu.be/-_zn5hrDCWw

For more information on which human foods to avoid and which are safe, check out my food safety video here: https://youtu.be/O_Zw8A4-5NM

My hope is to help make reliable information more available and accessible for pet owners, so if you have any topics that you would like me to talk about, please let me know in the comments below!

Thank you so much for this very helpful video! I’m currently studying to be an RVT and I am also getting a puppy within the next month so I’m definitely doing some doggie homework about feedings! Any suggestions/recommendations on food brands for a golden retriever puppy?
