Description
This program will provide veterinary technician association leaders an opportunity to hear national speakers and learn the principles of association management. Very few people enter the profession of association and nonprofit management with a comprehensive body of knowledge. We are always learning the fundamentals and the changes necessary to be excellent professional organization staff. This seminar is designed for new staff members and is an excellent refresher course for all association management professionals.

• Better Boards and Smart Practices
o The roles and responsibilities of the board serving as trustees of the corporation and providing vision and guidance through 2025. This session includes leadership orientation, the board-staff team, governance models, board responsibilities, micromanagement, accountability, and the common sense (meetings, minutes, agendas) and goal setting.

• Strategic Plans
o Whether updating a plan or developing a new one the best way to promote leadership buy-in and develop goals, strategies, and action steps for 3 to 5 years. This session includes building and implementing the strategic plan – ways to repurpose it to integrate it in the association and a valuable GPS – goals, priorities, and strategies.

• Pandemic Opportunities to Improve the Organization
o How associations are addressing recovering and rebound from the pandemic with smarter practices. Full of examples and discussion on governance, sponsors, dues billings, foundation uses, staffing, etc.
