One GREAT way to Exercise with Your Dogs while you #StayHome! (Ignoring Food!)

In this episode, Cesar teaches Sophia, a new way to exercise without leaving the house! Using his kitchen as the location, Cesar teaches us how to exercise with our dog using food.

Tools needed for exercise:

Two Scents:
One for your dog to stay away
One for your dog to move forward
Gloves:
So your scent is not associated with the other scents

This exercise will help you connect to your dog through how a dog learns: nose, eyes, ears
This will also help you on your walks as you encounter many different scents along the way.

Keep it – Natural, Simple, and Profound.

Totally back fired. I used white vinegar and my puppy took a couple licks instead of being deterred from it…

Loved the fact that you have addressed the nose in the leave it command. Dogs are Definitely smart to apply it to other frames and situations once they have understood the concept .
Our problem is regarding territorial infringement with regards to nose.

We have a 2 yr old female st. Bernard, who is pretty much good with basic commands, understand and even applies leave it on roads and streets.

But in the society that we live in, whenever a new dog enters a home and once she gets a whiff of it, then all training is forgotten and she just wants to constantly bark at him from the balcony and always takes or drags us there to smell him on the staircase.
All the training seems to be forgotten and it’s like , there is only instinct driving ber, no brain at that time.

We would really like your help in altering this situation.or atleast to distract her and bring her into a calmer state of mind.

Wow this is so important for us to teach dogs here in south Africa because housebreaking criminals are poisoning dogs on a big scale, to enable them to break into homes

I feel like the reason you are so successful with animals is because you are as excited about them as they are you. Not a lot of animal owners aren’t this passionate.
    Great stuff!

Thanks again, Cesar. Every dog owner needs to play this game with their dog. Sophia is one of my favourites. She’s a quick study and is always ‘happy go lucky’.

I know you’re busy with many problem dogs but I’ve got one for ya 🤦🏻‍♀️ We’ve been traveling from Texas to West Virginia for a little over two year’s now and I personally can not take our dog by myself anymore. If I do and have to stop for gas which is about 5 times and there is a male he’ll almost break a window to come after them!!! I think my son also reached out too years ago…Since then we have to keep on meds and if my husband and I are traveling together he gets shotgun 😆 and one of us has stay in the backseat. HELP!!!!

  35. elise holton on November 14, 2020 at 9:12 pm

What about her dinner? Is it hand fed or on bowl on floor?

  36. charles watts on November 14, 2020 at 9:13 pm

I noticed on a previous episode with spot that you feed the dogs carrots and celery as a treat correct? Is there other vegs that they would like and be ok for them?

  37. Kirsty Macfarlane on November 14, 2020 at 9:14 pm

Thanks Cesar, another game I can teach my 11 year old German shepherd! I love that even at her age we’re still playing games and she’s learning new ones. There’s two trainers, Lauren and Tom, and I got their video, lead off game on. It was such a game changer for us, took Valentines training to the next level and she’s gone from being a reasonably reactive dog, especially in the home, to a dog that only reacts when someone comes to the door or first enters the house. If someone new comes into the home I put her muzzle on, especially if my husband is at work because because it is part of her job to protect me, it’s one of the reasons why you have a breed like a gsd and they’re gorgeous. Usually within five mins the muzzle is off though. If it’s someone I don’t particularly like or I’m unsure of, I leave the muzzle on because she will pick up on my energy. She’s an amazing dog and I wouldn’t change her for the world, she might not be perfect to some but she’s perfect for us. I know what I’m doing, I keep her safe and what I get in return is priceless 🐕🐕🐕🐕

Brilliant vid! Thanks Cesar. We love this game and using our home space like this.
Any advice on how to socialise my dog who’s been on lockdown for 9 months. I got my GSD rescue just before we went into lockdown. In my country Sri Lanka lockdown means curfew. You go out your door police arrest you. So he’s not had the chance to meet people. Now he’s nervous and territorial and protective of me when people come to the door. And I’m nervous to introduce him. I’m the only human he has contact with. He’s a big dog and people are scared. They try to throw stones at him which makes him worse! But we train and excersise every day in our home and garden, and he’s really good. It’s just when he sees people at the gate he goes nuts. My family are stuck abroad for 9 months cos of COVID and I need a plan to reintroduce them safely back to the dog once borders reopen and they can come home. Will he have forgotten them? He was 10months when he last saw them. He’s now 1.5yrs. Any advice greatly appreciated. Or better still come have a holiday in Sri Lanka 🙏😁.
