Should you Free Roam your Turtle?
You may have seen Franklin, the red eared slider, in the background of videos before… today, I talk about how I gave him access to the room, and whether I suggest you try it yourself or not!

Make sure that he doesn’t borrow your credit card and order a pizza when you’re at work.
My turtle Tortuga free roams. He’s familiar with every room in my house, and even has his own designated spots. I raised him from a hatchling and he’s been walking around on his own for probably close to 8 years. He’ll be 10 in June.
Omg my turtle is also called Franklin and he is 13 years old
I bet it does wonders for your carpet…
Cute
My entire room is made out of windows I have like one wall and a door. So my entire room is a basking spot.
My aunt been free roaming my turtle and I keep on telling her that it’s not good and he(my turtle) might have shell rot. She answered with don’t trust thing on the internet and not letting him free roam is animal torture because it’s like keeping me in my room and not letting me out, I don’t know what to tell her anymore.
I let my turtle free roam
in her tank
a tutrtle huh i have 2 turtles that free roam
Can’t you just take him out once or twice a day
4:11 When I step on a lego brick..
I had 2 red eared slider and they were freedom turtles too. They used to roam in my entire house and they never neither me nor my family members. They were sooo friendly and yes used to sleep with me on my bed 🙈. Damn i miss them 😭
I didn’t really think Alex was that small until I saw him at 0:01 (No offense)
I started letting My turtle out years ago when his aquarium cracked and hes just like yours but mine is 21yrs old but hes the same as yours he loves being out his aquarium more now and I only let him out on warm days they can live long without water but honestly hes stronger now since letting him out its his exercise.
What is his kind
Big 👍 my friend! How are you and Franklin? I let my tortoise and turtles free roam too! That’s why I have concrete on my floor so I can just wipe it up! Lol! My tortoise bangs around his enclosure until I let him out! It’s pretty funny! Lol! Have a great weekend! Take care and God bless! Animal Papa and Junior! 🐾👍🐢🙏

Can i free roam them in my bathroom?
So I yesterday I found a little baby red eared slider in my subdivision and i let gim go in my yard about 20 yards from the road. Then today I found him the the same spot In the road again ! He made it to fhe same spot twice. There isnt any water source except a sewer and duplexes. (I dont want him eating pizza if u know what I mean.) Lol And he has a chipped outer shell now! I have never taken care of a turtle. I’m actually letting him free roam right now. But what do I feed him ?
How much light a day does he need? and is it okay to have a free roam turtle and have an outside protected enclosure for it. Idk of it a boy or girls I havent some much research I the past 3 hours I’ve had him. I’m afraid a petstore is gonna sell me stupid stuff. I’m the diy type person. Any advise will help!
am i crazy or are the cages in the back, like low-key, leaning downwards?
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD RED EAR SLIDER TURTLE NAMED FRANKLIN AS WELL! I ALLOW HIM TO FREE ROAM OCCASIONALLY LIKE ONCE A WEEK. HE LOVES IT. HE LETS ME KNOW WHEN HE WANTS TO COME OUT AS WELL AS GO BACK INTO HIS TERRARIUM. ITS NICE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE LIKE ME. IT GIVES ME ALOT OF HOPE FOR MY LITTLE GUY. ALSO I HAVE AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR YOU HAVING THE COURAGE AND KNOWLEDGE TO PUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS OUT THERE TO HELP OTHER TURTLE PARENTS. YOUR A GOOD KID. YOUR FRANKLIN IS A VERY LUCKY PET.
Im sorry this is a late comment but this may be NOT true but what I do is free roam my turtle in just 1 room if you want to do this it s the way safer idea other than free roaming it in your whole house! Even in the kitchen on the stairs which it can fall off! In the room you put your RES in take all the objects out and put a area where the turtle can float in make sure it also has some sun ( for proper temperature) and make sure it doesnt have like somewhere to come out of there without your permission. I hoped this helped everyone too
I understand you..even i wont suggest anyone keeping turtles on free rome and cannot ignore my turtle who recognisez the tank and knows where to go…but still
Make sure he’s never biting the wires!
I did it with mine and he knows exactly where and what is his name is spots and I have him for 4 years
For how long i should let her bask ???
When they crawl on your feet, hand, etc 🤭
He can he’s big
Great video 🙂
Should you free roam your turtle? No. Just no. Unless you have considered all of the possibilities, your pet’s personality, and your willingness to take them to a vet with administering medical care to your pet. In short, if you treasure your pet turtle or don’t, just don’t do it unless you are sure you want to take full responsibility for your actions. (Most importantly, if you don’t treasure your pet keep them in the tank.)
Gonna let my axolotl free roam!!!! So excited!!!
Edit: hes dead now
P.S. As of May of this year, I stopped letting Franklin free-roam. Here’s the update video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1PAJQlVwDg

I know this is two years late but why do you have feet on your shelf?
Can i free roam my Kings Cobra in my Room while i sleep?
*no one is going to talk about the disembodied feet on the shelves throughout the video?? no just me?? okay cool.*
When I was a kid I would free roam my turtles all the time, they were only in their tanks overnight mostly.
his turtle is like a dog
a really slow dog
bro what are your pc specs, it looks sick
I do the same. I live in a tropical country and mine has free run of the apartment. It’s fine. Mine follows me like a dog as well and lets you know when he wants a swim. He is also fully toilet trained. Chewing is no problem. Shell rot can be a problem if he’s not on the balcony enough.
I love turtles! Theo, my 7-year-old yellow-bellied slider, says hi 😉
I used to let my turtle walk outside but not it’s so hot so I let him walk in my room and he like to go under the bed idk why 😂
Aww your so tiny 🥺😂
Is it okay to free a turtle into the wild in Ireland?
Spreading salmonela everywhere
I think this is the first video I’ve seen from this channel.
Your turtles just like my cat
I’m letting my turtle out every night for an hour just cause she looks bored sometimes. She’s a bit skiddish. Eventually she’ll get used to it.
This is crazy let my turtle do the same thing but I put him in his aquarium at nights afternoons
I like to free roam my turtle, the only problem is she climes everything, she only pees and poops in her tank, and I put her back after a while, and she knows that she should only eat in her tank, she’s well trained, I didn’t train her, she just is 🙂
I had one too my grandfather found it in the middle of my dog nawing on him and she became so docile, would walk anywhere and I would feed her in our sink I’d fill it with water and feed and she would potty too, I made the mistake of putting her outdoors in the pond and she wasn’t used to it and drowned, I was devastated 😭😭
