The Shack

Based on the NEW YORK TIMES best-selling novel, THE SHACK takes us on a father’s uplifting spiritual journey. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips (Sam Worthington) spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa (Octavia Spencer). Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy, and change his life forever.

First. It breaks my heart when a child is used to represent pain and horror in a story. But. This is a good story.

A current movie mentioning God? I can’t believe it. Most movies are about worshiping the devil and evil ways. You know, to be a demoncrat!
God is good all the time…. Don’t let society take you away from God. Because when he comes back, he’s not going to care why you turned your back on him!

I was unaware this movie was based on a novel, until almost half way into it. I was curious to scroll and read some of the commentaries since I was feeling such a profound connection. I wish now, I had come across the book first and read it. Certainly helps to put challenging life experiences into perspective, help to learn and self-reflect. Forgiveness is an ability that I have yet to master. This movie has given me hope.

I have been under serious spiritual attacks for a LONG time. It wasn’t until recently that I have been granted the gift of discernment to recognize the attacks as such. I ask everyone who reads this to please pray for me. Please pray for my safety and my deliverance. I need all the help I can get. Thank you โค๏ธ

Iโ€™m sure this movie gave most viewers self reflection and different perception on any negative emotions in their own lives be it past or present. Especially the feeling of guilt, sure had me in tears towards the end and feel like this man my entire life, the presence of these superior beings.

I’m so,,, I cannot believe people would be so blaspheming to produce this and have a woman and call her Papa. No wonder our World and churches are so upside down.

    @1:03:30 FALSE DOCTRINE ALERT:

Mack: Is there anyone you’re not especially fond of?
Papa: Nope. Haven’t been able to find any. Guess that’s just the way I am.
Mack: Don’t you get mad at ’em?
Papa: Well, sure. What parent doesn’t?
Mack: And that’s when your whole wrath thing comes in, right?
    Papa: My what?
    Mack: Your wrath.
    Papa: You lost me there.
Mack: Come on. Everybody knows you punish the people who disappoint you.
Papa: Hmm. Nope. I don’t need to punish people. Sin is its own punishment.

If you didn’t recognize this as false doctrine, then you need to be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11. If you’re reading The Shack or watching the movie, make sure you also compare it to scripture and see if things line up. This part of the movie obviously doesn’t line up. Just about every book of the New Testament warns of false doctrine and false teachers.
