I live in West Virginia and love it.
It’s amazing in west Virginia 😍 🙌 there is no better place to live!!
Well what you cannot stand about WV , is what most mature people want . Right now you think it’s all
( in & happening & with it ) to have constant activity & all kinds of people thrown together on top of each other .
That’s going to change . Why are your pupils so diellayted ? ?
Maybe that’s what your after .
I’ve been in Wyoming County for about 29 years and I wouldn’t change it. I was in the Army and flew back and forth to Missouri and stopped at Chicago and Raleigh North Carolina and been in them places. For me I wouldn’t live in no city or town. I like my place up the holler. If y’all aren’t from Appalachia people pronounce it hollow. We call it holler. Other places to me are too crowded and noisy. It tormented me in cities and high populated towns. Every place has their ups and downs. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the other places. I’d visit but wouldn’t live there. You want some American history look up coal wars, union wars, Blair Mountain, Hatfield and McCoy feud, and stuff like that there’s bunches of history here. I’m happy where I’m at. Thank you Jesus!!!!!!!
The housing is a huge problem here. A lot of people still living with their parents. The service is getting a little better in certain areas. It definitely depends on what parts you’re in on how behind the towns are. The northern half seems to be more advanced not by much and it seems to be outskirts closer to bigger city areas where the drug problems are the worst. In the north it seems like more people are getting invested into wv there has been a lot of people coming in buying these old run down buildings and trying to reopen and expand our opportunities. I do wish there was more indoor activities that’s the issues kids have nothing to do around except get together and fuck shit up. It’s a little easier to commit crimes in certain towns my town it’s a guaranteed wait of an hour and a half or more for police to even show up unless you just happened to get super unlucky and they was strolling passed anyway. It’s all about location in this state.
I don’t blame any of you for Narking on us for anything. Yes we do have wild life but that doesn’t make up for the things that go on in West Virginia. I was born and raised there and I can tell you alot about what all goes on
Super late to the video. Just wanna say! I was born in WV, but grew up in Detroit, MI.. I moved back to WV and just wanna point out? Don’t take this the wrong way?.. but.. I’m glad you don’t want to recommend people coming here.. Why?.. WV is perfect for people like myself who value "privacy".. I love! I can live in places here, where I won’t even see a neighbor for miles.. this is a diamond in the rough for a person like me. WV and Alaska are the only places in this country truly like this. It’s perfect for people who just want to be left alone. It brings me so much peace, I never had in a big city. But. Good video.. your assessment is limited but it’s pretty much spot on.
It’s absolutely beautiful…. But your a city boy 😂 and going back in time 40 years ain’t a bad thing… The poverty is a negative I’ll give you that one.
you lived in Ohio? that says it all.
i live in wv and i love it
Ok, let’s go from WV to Chicago where 200 are killed everyday. Can’t wait. Your in Chicago and call WV cold….idiot
Lived here 32 years an the place is constantly going down hill. No jobs, nothing to do, and even the scenery gets old quick. We’re not only one of the poorest states but also the least educated and the highest in declining population. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to move here.
There is little to no crime if you compare to your big cities
Thank you for leaving WV
Ok. Coming from here I know we are nicer to people.
You are absolutely right! I’m from West Virginia, and I love my state but I will never go back. It’s one thing to not care, but it’s another to just don’t take care of your responsibilities. I wrote a book called: Black Child In West Virginia based on how I saw the way things are growing up and then leave. I’m asham to realized just how thoughtless the leaders are to take away from WV, and then left to defend on its own then sham them for it! (shaking stick) at those, you stepped on.
I live in wv used to be booming in coal but now is just old very few houses it would be nice if you lived in a city and wanted some privacy great for foorwheeling and good fishing i love living here it just needs fixed up
I live in west Virginia, it’s pretty normal , nice , and peaceful
Idaho people are the nicest people you’ll ever meet .
West Virginia is beautiful I live there everyone is lying
no traffic? dude, you are not talking about route 350 or the Eastern Panhandle. There is plenty of traffic around Inwood, Martinsburg and Charlestown. There is even a casino here.
I’m 66 & most of the negatives r +’s for me. Behind the times, no prob. Thanks for info. Informative.
I was raised there still visited. There. Peace and quite 👌awesome. Weather. Not so good in winter. So far from some things. He’s right about some things cell phones 😆🤣
Soooo there no black people? Cause I don’t mind being bored just don’t wanna encounter too much racism or bias
Sounds like you worked in the Bluefield, Beckley, Oak Hill market.
Try living on Long Island. If you have wealthy parents then you have no Idea…
It’s awesome I have lived here my whole life
I’ve lived here all my life I’m 42 and all you’ve said is totally true…great vlog at first I thought oh gosh here we go again with someone who thinks they have seen it all about the state they’ve barely lived in but you were right on point actually 👍
it seems like you were only qualified to be a reporter in a VERY SMALL town if you think its not progressive. If you were in Charleston, Morgantown or Huntington those are pretty Annoyingly Progressive cities.
Prettiest place in WV? I vote for Germany Valley in the north east. Clear streams, farms, and Eagles to watch.
I am glad to be back in WV after living in NJ for 40 years. I have had the opportunity to live in one of the most affluential states (NJ) while visiting WV (considered one of the poorest states) for 40 years; and so have seen and experienced the stark contrast for 40 years. And over this time my desire to move back to WV had only gotten stronger until I had the means to finally make the move. I have a lot to say on this subject so maybe I’ll make a video about it, But suffice to say, it is the people of WV that makes it such a valuable place regardless of the home they live in or the vehicle they drive. It is one of the reasons I kept my WV accent for 40 years and took it as a great compliment when someone from WV recently told me that I don’t act like I’m from NJ. Because I’m from West Virginia and always will be.
get on with it less talk
CITY BOY
Someone who lives in Chicongo talking about how bad WV is…
If you plan on moving to WV assimilate and don’t bring your garbage bag of great ideas with you please. WV is perfect just the way it is. You will find those pesky drugs EVERYWHERE, poverty EVERYWHERE so just leave WV be and keep it Almost Heaven. Thanks! I am finally going home after being ripped away 43 years ago. I’ve been back to visit my Dad may he rest in peace, enough times to know it’s doing just fine without A-holes like Tim Pool coming to save the day. If I sound pissed it’s because I lived other places for far to long and just want to go home to go fishin on the river and be left alone. Keep your progress please.
Its a white non democratic state and that is the reason I am moving there from nyc. As long we can have internet we can work remotely from WV and pay low taxes on property and income!
oh no…. not old traditions, nice people, no diversity? Anything but that… The horror.
I moved from Kentucky lived there my entire life. Moved to WV at 25. It’s awful. It’s beautiful in some parts but as a whole, its awful. Move to Kentucky it’s right next door
I’d rather be in West Virginia than most of the USA, it is a beautiful state
I’m from the Cincinnati, OH area. I lived near Morgantown, WV for 5 years. I hated the hell out of WV. The people there are so uneducated, it’s pathetic. And I really hate snow. The job market is bad there. Ugh.
Beautiful state… cheap houses…. very low diversity…. sign me up
I have lived here my entire life but also moved around growing up and always came back. For a reason
please keep discouraging people from coming here.. the outsiders are ruining my state.. we like it slow and easy here
No traffic my ass. Go to Morgantown.
I’ve lived in Florida since the age of 12, however, I’m from southern WV. I’ve watched Florida grow from 6 million to 22 million. Once I retire I’m fleeing Florida like the place is on fire and heading back to WV. Why? People from big cities and blue states have ruined Florida from top to bottom. It’s unbelievably crowded and beaches are overrun with people. I hope outsiders never discover WV and believe all the stereotypes. Otherwise, they will ruin West Virginia as well.
Poverty in every state hate when peoplr point out wv its in every state wv has multi million $ areaz too hills over lakes & rivers valleys no tornatos blizzards earth q, ufo lol only flooding if ur by a river not a plqce for truckers step hills
Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you for not staying. Progressives ruin their states with left wing nonsense.
I don’t know where you lived in WV. I assume it had to be Chas., Huntington, Beckley, or Morgantown if you were working as a reporter. If that’s where you were then I couldn’t disagree too much with what you had to say, except . . .
. . . there’s so much more to WV than you had any chance to see in one year. We moved to WV after having grown up in and identified as Virginians all our lives. It’s required for all Virginians to look down on WV, and we did — until we got to know the state and its people. Sure, they are poor, not well-educated, insular, and not at all progressive. The poor and uneducated parts are not good, but the insular and unprogressive parts we happened to like. Life there is much more sane than most of the rest of the country, at least by the standards we grew up with.
But their spirit! Oh man! Until you are there for several years you just wouldn’t see it or detect it. They have such pride in their state and its struggles to overcome the disadvantages that seem to be built into the state. They keep trying to do better, to "make it," to take their rightful higher place in the country. Once you finally "get it" you’ll never want to live anywhere else. Until you do, you would have the take on it that you have. As you say, they are the best people you will ever meet anywhere. They are hard working, honest, totally unpretentious, giving, friendly to all, and strongly patriotic.
Of course, you have to carefully pick your spot about where to live. The towns I mentioned above aren’t among those spots. Also, there are some counties I won’t name where I would never consent to live. But there are plenty of others where it’s paradise, as long as you aren’t looking for excitement and fast living.
So no, it wasn’t a good fit for you — probably wouldn’t be for any big city northerner. But West Virginians are happy to keep it that way.
