THE WEIRDEST AMP RHETT SHULL EVER PLAYED – SG Systems SG-212 – LET'S REPAIR! – EPISODE 19

Today the Tone Priest puts on his skinny jeans and takes a deep dive into the weirdest guitar amplifier Rhett Shull has ever played – a 1974 C.M.I. / SG Systems SG-212. This surely is an amp even H.P. Lovecraft could relate to.

This and all Tone Priest videos are for edu-tainment purposes only. Guitar amplifiers can have lethal voltages in excess of 700 volts. Capacitors can retain a deadly charge even when an amplifier is turned off and unplugged. Videos are not instructional nor do they advocate anyone doing any kind of repairs on their gear. Nobody should do electrical work on anything for any reason ever. Keep your hands and belongings inside the car at all times.

Two 6L6’s won’t hold back that transformer. Lol! I can only imagine the headroom on that thing. I guess this is a newer channel? If not I am surprised I haven’t seen it yet. I love your editing and I love Amps. I have subscribed and I hope you get enough people to keep this interesting for you. We need a good amp repair channel. I am finally getting the time and confidence to really start doing my own work on a few things. Good luck man! P.S. I am now scouring thrift stores for oven knobs. What a great idea.

Hi, I picked one of these up yesterday. It’s in rough shape but works. There is one speaker that’s been replaced and the replacement is actually blown out.

Do you happen to know what Ohms the speakers are? I think 16 but I’d like to check.

    Much appreciated.
