Training Tip: Engage, Disengage

Reactivity is not fun for anyone! Thanks for watching our video about this simple game you can play with your dog to help build a positive association with whatever triggers them (strangers, other dogs, squirrels, bicycles, etc.)! Make sure to have high value treats, and practice, practice, practice!

The Charleston Animal Society Humane Education Department is dedicated to teaching kindness and compassion towards all living things. In 2019, we taught over 22,000 lessons, hosted 650 hours of programming at the shelter, and visited nearly 40 schools in the Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester County school districts. In light of the current coronavirus COVID-19 situation, we have had to suspend in-person programming until further notice, but want to keep with our commitment to our mission by continuing to engage with our students. We invite you to join us as we create a series of fun videos filled with cute animals, activities, and virtual learning opportunities you can participate in from the comfort of your own home.
